The Borealis Jazz Quartet with Guest James Dorland

The Borealis Jazz Quartet is comprised of Sudbury, Ontario’s finest jazz musicians with Brian Quebec on acoustic bass, Tony Simpkin on piano, Allan Walsh on tenor saxophone and Jack Broumpton on drums, and guest James Dorland on guitar.

They have been more than instrumental in keeping the jazz flame burning in Northern Ontario for over 20 years through their many exciting performances as well as through teaching at Laurentian University and Cambrian College. The quartet has been featured on regional and national CBC radio broadcasts.

Active in promoting live jazz music over the years they have brought many of Canada’s finest musicians to Sudbury and have shared the stage with such jazz greats as Oliver Jones, Hugh Fraser, Pat Labarbera, Kevin Dean, Reg Schwager, Carol Welsman Mike Murley and Ranee Lee, to name a few. Steeped in the mainstream jazz tradition they also perform original jazz compositions.
